PS1 Extreme Ghostbusters Game Will Not Start Off The Start Button

Q: I am at the start screen for Extreme Ghostbusters on the PS1 and I cannot get the game to start. What gives?
A: To start the game press Left Front and Left Rear buttons at the same time.
